What is the EU registration certificate?

To reside in Spain for over three months, EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens must register with the Spanish central register of foreigners. This involves obtaining an EU registration certificate, also known as a green card. The green card serves as an identification document and grants legal residence and work rights in Spain. Unlike the complex process for non-EU citizens, EU citizens can establish themselves in Spain quickly and easily. EU citizens don’t need to apply for a TIE or possess an NIE before obtaining the green card. The green card includes an NIE number, a unique identifier for foreigners in Spain.
